Jakob Hellman Announces Touring Pause After Landmark Summer Tour

After several years back in the spotlight, Jakob Hellman, one of Sweden’s most influential pop voices, is set to temporarily step away from the touring circuit once he concludes an extensive summer tour in 2024. The run kicks off on May 30 at Gothenburg’s Liseberg and reaches its finale at Stockholm’s Mosebacketerrassen on August 18—an apt homecoming for an artist whose career has circled back to its roots.

This summer’s tour is evocatively named after Hellman’s latest album, Slutet gott, and is described by the artist as a kind of closure for the phase of renewed creativity and public performances that began with his spectacular comeback. In many ways, the tour serves as a living retrospective—a celebration not only of the new material but of a catalog spanning more than three decades and nearly 200 concerts since his highly anticipated return.

Hellman’s journey has been marked by remarkable intervals. His 1989 debut, ...Och stora havet, remains one of the most heralded albums in Swedish pop history, often cited as a foundational work. Yet, remarkably, fans waited more than three decades for his second album, with the release of Äntligen borta in 2021. This extended gestation only intensified the anticipation surrounding his return, further fueled by appearances on the popular TV program Så mycket bättre and a prolific period of touring.

The forthcoming tour takes Hellman to cities and towns across Sweden—including Lund, Borlänge, Kalix, Oskarshamn, Alvesta, and more—offering audiences in both large and smaller locales a chance to experience his artistry live. He has spoken of the tour as a “living compilation album,” a means of reflecting on the distance he and his audience have traveled together. Notably, Hellman emphasizes that, although he will be pressing pause on the demanding schedule of live performances after this summer, he is not retiring from music itself. Instead, the break is positioned as a time to draw breath following a chapter defined by renewed productivity and direct connection with fans.

“I want to celebrate that ...Och stora havet is now joined by two new records,” Hellman shared, acknowledging how both his early and recent songs remain vibrant, shaped in part by the energy of his loyal listeners. This sense of gratitude and ongoing relationship with the audience underscores the entire tour, culminating at Mosebacketerrassen—a venue close to Hellman’s heart and a symbolic locale in the narrative of his career.

Ultimately, this summer’s tour stands as both a summing up and a bridge to whatever comes next for Jakob Hellman. For Swedish pop music, his journey exemplifies the enduring power of great songwriting and the rare ability to connect with audiences across generations.
