Göteborgskalaset Expands Lineup and Program for This Year's City Festival

Göteborgskalaset, the annual city-wide festival in Gothenburg, is further enhancing its music lineup ahead of this year's festivities, taking place from August 27th to 30th. Notable new additions to the lineup include Maya Diab, Sarah Klang in collaboration with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, A-Teens, Streaplers, and the recently Grammy-awarded Yttling Jazz. These join an already strong bill featuring acts like Miriam Bryant, Teddybears, Sahara Hotnights, and Arvingarna, particularly on the main stage at Götaplatsen.

The program at Götaplatsen will be a central draw for many festival-goers, with Maya Diab, Sarah Klang alongside the symphony orchestra, and the enduring pop group A-Teens taking the stage. This marks Götaplatsen’s return as the festival’s largest venue, reaffirming its significance in the event’s structure and offering a diverse musical program suitable for a broad audience.

Other venues across the festival will also see unique programming. Streaplers are set to perform at the dance pavilion in Bältespännarparken, which this year puts a special emphasis on dance culture. The site aims to engage visitors with the opportunity to try out different dance styles and experience a variety of dance performances, turning the park into a vibrant hub for movement and music enthusiasts alike.

Jazz fans will find something to look forward to at Kungstorget, where Yttling Jazz—recently recognized with a Swedish Grammis award—will present their innovative sound. Meanwhile, Grönsakstorget turns the spotlight on emerging and lesser-known acts. This part of the festival is dedicated to giving new talent a chance to perform in front of larger audiences, offering festival visitors a chance to discover fresh voices and sounds.

The festival’s footprint is set to expand even further in 2026, with plans to utilize more of the city’s central areas, including Götaplatsen, Avenyn, Bältespännarparken, Kungstorget, Grönsakstorget, and Kungsparken. During the current festival, the area around upper Avenyn will be closed off to traffic to create a pedestrian-friendly environment, with many restaurants and bars temporarily moving their service out onto the streets to heighten the atmosphere and accessibility.

Göteborgskalaset remains a free event open to all, and visitors can expect frequent updates as more details about the program are released incrementally. Although the specific schedules and times for artists' performances are yet to be announced, the expanded lineup and new festival spaces promise an inclusive and lively experience for attendees of all ages and interests.

Additional information and ongoing program releases are available on the official Göteborgskalaset website, ensuring festival-goers can stay informed as the final details come together ahead of this anticipated August celebration.
