Artists and Program Highlights Announced for SM-veckan 2024 in Karlstad

Karlstad is set to host SM-veckan 2024 from June 23 to 28, offering a diverse program that brings together the best of Swedish sports and culture. The event, which is open to all with free admission, will feature competitions in 30 different sports and a rich cultural lineup aimed at making SM-veckan a true family festival.
This year, several renowned artists have confirmed performances during the festivities. Dotter, a celebrated figure in Swedish pop, will take the stage following the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 24. The inauguration coincides with the SM-milen and Karlstad Stadslopp, anchoring the event as both a sporting and cultural gathering. That evening, Johan Lönnstam, the Swedish karaoke champion, will also perform before Dotter’s headline concert on Sandgrundsudden.
The celebration continues on Saturday, June 27, with a show by Junior Lerin, immediately followed by a concert from the popular band Smash Into Pieces, also on Sandgrundsudden. These evening events are set to draw audiences from across the region, adding a musical highlight to the week’s program.
Beyond headline concerts, SM-veckan will host a broad range of activities throughout Karlstad. On Friday and Saturday (June 26 and 27), families can enjoy hands-on experiences with various sports and cultural activities. These opportunities are coordinated by RF-SISU Värmland in collaboration with around 30 local clubs, inviting both young and old to try their hand at different disciplines and creative pursuits.
Another vibrant center for cultural engagement during the week is Kvarteret Almen. Throughout SM-veckan, visitors can participate in dance performances, concerts from groups like Old Man Band, theater productions led by Kunskapsteatern, and singalong sessions organized by Centrum Karlstad and Great Event. Special programs are also tailored for children and family audiences, including music, dance, and a designated show from Scenbruket.
The week will conclude with a unique cultural experience: a workshop and concert focused on traditional Sami music (joik) led by Ola and Ida Stinnerbom. This finale underscores SM-veckan’s commitment to offering a broad platform for both athletic and cultural traditions.
SM-veckan in Karlstad promises six days of competition, music, and artistic expression—providing a showcase for Sweden’s vibrant community life. With free entry and a program designed for all ages, the event looks to attract a wide audience and foster an inclusive spirit where sports and art connect.
